LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) - According to a survey by Gallup, 3.9 percent of U.S. adults consider themselves LGBT.
The number of these people who claim to be married is increasing. 123,000 same-sex marriages have occurred since 2015 when such marriages were legalized.
In all, Gallup finds there are 491,000 same-sex married couples in the United States.
There may be a similar number of same-sex people who are living together but are not married by the state.
Slightly less than half of all LGBT individuals, at 49.9 percent, claim to be single or never married.
As a nation, we spend a lot of energy to accommodate and appease this demographic. Yet, many other demographics are much larger and they also have concerns. For example, Christians are sometimes forbidden to follow their conscience on issues like same-sex marriage and abortion. Christians may make a majority of the population, but their political clout is diminishing.
