El 6 de agosto de 1968 murio el beato Pablo VI. Para recordarlo en su 40 aniversario, el Papa Francisco acudio a su tumba, situada en las grutas de la Basilica de San Pedro del Vaticano, para rezar en privado.

VATICANO (ACI Prensa) - El Santo Padre oro durante unos 10 minutos, desde las 11.45 a las 12.00 horas de Roma.
Precisamente, al concluir el rezo del Angelus el domingo 5 de agosto, el Pontifice recordo al proximo santo como "el Papa de la modernidad".
"Hace 40 anos el beto Pablo VI estaba viviendo sus ultimas horas en esta tierra. Murio, en efecto, la tarde del 6 de agosto de 1978. Le recordamos con mucha veneracion y gratitud, en espera de su canonizacion, el 14 de octubre proximo".
"Que desde el cielo interceda por la Iglesia y por la paz en el mundo", pidio.
Francisco animo a los miles de fieles reunidos en la Plaza de San Pedro a que lo saludasen con un aplauso: "a este gran Papa de la modernidad lo saludamos todos con un aplauso".
