Famous country singer dead after gunfight with bounty hunter

Sixty-five-year-old country singer Randy Howard was shot on June 9, 2015 by a bounty hunter at Howard's home. It was reported that Howard was being detained by the bounty hunter, wanted on a DUI charge.

MUNTINLUPA, PHILIPPINES (Catholic Online) - Country singer Randy Howard was a member of country music's "Outlaw" movement. He has written songs for Hank Williams III and has performed with Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson. On June 11, Williams III posted a picture of him and Howard with the caption, "RIP Randy Howard."
The singer was detained because of a a fourth DUI offense. He possessed drug paraphernalia and a firearm while drunk driving with an invalid license.
Terry Dotson, Randy's friend, claims he was dismissed by the singer when he urged him to attend one of the court hearings. "He said he wasn't going back to jail. That's what he told me," Dotson said.
On June 9, Jackie Shell, a bounty hunter, went to Howard's home to take him into custody when the singer opened fire. The bounty hunter shot back, ultimately killing Howard.
It was reported that the bounty hunter was injured during the encounter. Authorities are now being asked whether Jackie Shell had the right to enter Randy Howard's home; the authorities' only replay is that the details can't be discussed in specific, but the "investigation includes all aspects of the incident."
The country singer has released seven records during his time. Among these was "All American Redneck," under Warner Bros. in 1983 and the self-titled "Randy Howard," under Atlantic records in 1988.
Unlike the others, Howard patronized the term "redneck." Deemed derogatory by many, he believed that the term didn't have to be offensive. He said, "It can be positive," and that when he "plays clubs, I ask if there are any rednecks out there. I get a good response whether I'm in New York or Miami."
